BMW G81 M3 Touring OEM Roof Box – Colour Matched in Isle of Man Green

BMW’s genuine OEM roof box is already one of the most practical accessories available for the G81 M3 Touring — but straight out of the box, it doesn’t exactly blend into an Individual-spec build.

So for this Isle of Man Green G81, we decided to change that.

Rather than leave the roof box in its standard finish, we fully prepared and refinished it in BMW Isle of Man Green, creating a factory-inspired colour-matched setup that looks like it was designed with the car from day one.

Turning an accessory into part of the build

Roof boxes are normally chosen for practicality rather than appearance, but on a car like the G81 M3 Touring there’s no reason they can’t be both.

The factory BMW box has a great shape and proportions for the Touring, but colour matching it completely changes the way it sits on the car.

Instead of looking like something that has simply been attached to the roof, it becomes part of the overall specification.

Matching a colour like Isle of Man Green isn’t simply a case of finding something “close enough”.

The metallic colour shifts considerably depending on lighting and viewing angle, so getting the finish right is important — especially when the roof box is sitting directly above the original body colour.

The box was properly prepared before being refinished in the correct BMW colour and finished to complement the vehicle.
